I read a story once of a new Pastor (to a Church) who dressed as a down and out homeless man. His hair was unkept, his clothes dirty and his face unshaved. He sat at his Church’s front door on a Sunday morning with a sign that said , “Please help”. The church attendees filed into the church ignoring the man, avoiding him and looking away. The pastor was late and the church was full when in walks the homeless man who climbed up to the pulpit and announced he was their new Pastor. You could hear a pin drop. He quickly dropped the outer dirty clothing and put on a suit coat. The sermon that day was about God’s love and how we should love one another and not be so judgmental. The congregation was shocked and ashamed. Sounds like a great Pastor to me. A Church who judged a person but what they were wearing needs an overhaul.
