 The answer to this is very simple and should be common knowledge, in my opinion. It is simply not fair to other people. It’s called respect. Not everybody likes dogs, many don’t trust dogs they don’t know, not all dogs are well taken care of or trained. I could try to explain to you all day long why you should fall in love with and trust my Doberman Pinscher, but I won’t bother because many people have already made up their minds. I take mine with me just about everywhere I can, and in Southern California they are welcome in many restaurants with seating outside. I take her to festivals and parks filled with families. It is because of her looks. I think she’s the most beautiful creature I’ve ever seen, but many people see her as an intimidating killer. Their loss, but that’s okay. Hollywood destroyed the doberman’s reputation, but that’s another issue. However, I would never, ever allow her off leash in public, and this has nothing to do with her breed or how well she’s trained. It has to do with respect.

No one wants to step in your dogs crap and spend the afternoon cleaning their shoes. Plus it smells and it ends up just being unpleasant for the community. I live in an apartment complex and they have a very small “dog walking” area that is littered with dog poop that people don’t pick up. It’s gross, a health hazard, and not even my own dog walks there anymore. Pick up after your dog in consideration of others.
