 I still continue to receive support because my dyslexia hasn’t improved too much since I was diagnosed. My worst is only at a 7th grade skill level, and my best is only two years below where I’m supposed to be, so I guess I’m sort of lucky in the sense that I’m growing, even if slowly. The head teacher was taking the class and afterwards she took me out and said we had to talk, we didn’t talk she just beat me up with a few slaps around the face, and when I told my parents they didn’t believe me. When I was at the end of year 7 a whole year of beating, she gave up doing it in secret and used to do it in front of everyone, at assembly and in class. I’m in year 10 now and I have used everything in my power to make her stop, I even got the police involved, but apparently there was “No evidence” even though I had bruises all over my face and stomach.

As I said I am in year 10 and she is still doing it today, for anyone who is going through this, ( hope that is no one ) please stay strong, Mad minutes are sheets of simple math equations — 60 of them — that are to be done in 60 seconds. The teacher passed out papers we had to have face down on our desks until she told us to flip them over and she’d start the timer. Then, after the truly maddening minute was over, we would trade our papers with someone sitting next to us, and she would read out the answers or go around the room and we would give the answers. We marked the incorrect answers on our peer’s paper, totaled it, and handed it in. There were many different versions of each set: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and mixed. I think the highest number used was 12, for example 12×12 or 7 + 6
