If I was a ministerial servant or elder I would likely have been removed from those positions but I was not serving in that capacity so I had nothing to lose. As far as I’m concerned there’s nothing for anyone to apologize for. It’s not that important. No big deal. I don’t think they should have to apologize for following a course that they felt was correct for so many years. Rather than looking for an apology, I’m thankful that they had the courage to be open-minded enough to see the need for updating the previous policy.

They never said brothers couldn’t have a beard. I believe they said brothers with a beard might not be selected to serve as ministerial servants or elders because it wasn’t considered modest by many Witnesses so why be a cause of stumbling when persons in those positions are expected to be exemplary?
